I love the superhero game Heroclix. Like most of us who play the game, I also enjoy the comic books upon which the characters of the game are based.

So I've created a number of campaigns designed to simulate storylines with a traditional comic book feel to them. I'll be gradually posting the several dozen I've got ready over the next few weeks. After that, whenever I get around to creating a new campaign, I'll add that as well.

For the most part, the campaigns will be divided up into Marvel, DC and Mixed Universe. There will be a few single scenario entries as well.

If I can figure out how to manage it, I'd like to allow other Heroclix fans to post their own campaign/scenario creations here as well.

ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR ALL: A Marvel Universe campaign

THE STORY SO FAR: It all started almost by accident. The Falcon, working on what he thought was a straight-forward smuggling case, runs afoul of Dr. Doom. In the ensuing skirmish, Doom’s latest plan of conquest (involving genetically-enhanced gerbils—don’t ask) was foiled, but Doom managed to capture the Falcon, taking him back to Latveria for imprisonment and punishment. None may oppose Doom and live!!!!!

But the Falcon won’t stay a prisoner—not if Captain America and the Avengers have anything to say about it.

The following campaign will follow the Avengers through a series of scenarios as they fight to save their comrades from various dooms. One player will use the Avengers, making his teams for each scenario from figures that have the Avengers keyword. The other player will use the various bad guys who do battle with the superheroes. The two players will be respectively referred to as the Hero and the Villain.

FEAT CARDS: Neither player may use ICWO or Lazarus Pit. Otherwise, Feat Cards may be freely assigned for each scenario.

BFC: A specific BFC card will be designated for each scenario. These cards may not be cancelled via Theme Team bonus.

VICTORY POINTS: Keep a running total of victory points throughout the campaign. At the end, high scorer wins.

IF IT’S NOT ONE THING, IT’S ANOTHER!!: Just as the Avengers are getting ready to fly to Latveria, an alarm goes off. Kang the Conqueror is attacking an experimental NASA moon base!!!! His goal: kill or kidnap an astronaut who will become President in 2020 and lead a successful war against an full-scale invasion by Kang from the far future.

Captain America, the current chairman of the Avengers, quickly makes a command decision. He divides his forces, sending one team to the moon, while another heads for Latveria.

INITIAL TEAMS: The first two scenarios will represent the battles at these two locations. The Hero will form two 400 point teams for these battles. He may use only one version of any character—with each character appearing on only ONE of the teams. Remember, each character must have the Avengers keyword. Captain America must be included on one of the teams. The Falcon must also be included on one of the teams, though the Hero can choose whether to use him on the same team as Cap or the other one. Finally, the Scarlet Witch and/or Quicksilver must be included on one of the teams. (If both the Witch and Quicksilver are used, they need not be placed on the same team.)

SCENARIO #1: LATVERIA

TEAMS: The Hero uses one of his 400 point teams. This team MUST include the Falcon, who breaks free and joins his comrades when they distract Doom with their initial attack.

The Villain forms a 400 pt. team out of Dr. Doom and any number of Doombots (both old and new versions). If the Villain wishes to do so, he may presume that ONE (and only one) of the following mad scientists currently has an uneasy alliance with Doom and joins in to help him: Armin Zola, M.O.D.O.K., Beetle, Radioactive Man, Wizard.

MAP: Use the Doom’s Castle map that came with the FF Starter kit.

SET-UP: The Hero is first player. Second player decides whether to use the special rules for the map, or to presume the force field walls are turned off and have the players set up in more traditional starting areas.

BFC: The Loyalty BFC card is in effect.

SCENARIO LENGTH: 10 rounds.

SCENARIO #2: The Moon

TEAMS: The Hero uses his other 400 point team.

The Villain uses Kang, any number of Badoon warriors (with whom he formed an alliance), and various warriors from the future (mutations from a future nuclear war). These warriors are represented by any number of the following figures borrowed from the DC Universe: Parademon Warriors & Scouts, Man Bat and Fury, Science Police. Remember that these are ALL considered generics and the Villain may use multiple versions of any of them. All the Villain’s figures are given FUTURE as a keyword.

SPECIAL: The Scientist pog (representing Kang’s target) is placed adjacent to any one of the Hero’s figures during set-up. He is not considered to be part of the team, though the Hero can give him actions normally.

MAP: Use the Secret Base map that came with the Indy Starter set. (The fish near the entrance, by the way, are genetically altered experiments to see if men living on the moon can raise their own food.)

SET-UP: The Villain is first player this time. Choose sides normally.

EVEN MORE SPECIAL: The Scientist pog is immune to damage as long as he is adjacent to any Avenger. If this is not the case, he can be attacked and KO’d normally.

BFC: The Low Gravity BFC is in effect.

SCENARIO LENGTH: The scenario lasts 10 rounds.

MORE SPECIAL STUFF: If the Scientist pog is still active at the end of the scenario, the Hero gets 50 bonus points. If he’s been KO’d, then the Villain gets the bonus.

THE STORY CONTINUES: After these two hard-fought battles, the Avengers return to the mansion, only to find that the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants have invaded in yet another attempt to subvert the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to evil.

SCENARIO #3: The Mansion

TEAMS: The Hero randomly chooses one of his 400 point teams. This is the first of the teams to get home and encounter the bad guys. He may, though, reassign Feat Cards if he wishes. (This team does not HAVE to include the Witch or Quicksilver, but that’s just Magneto’s hard luck.)

The Villain uses Magneto and any other characters with the Brotherhood of Mutants keyword (except, obviously, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and any characters from the Ultimates universe. The Ultimates Magneto, though, is a pretty good representation of the regular Marvel Magneto, so he can be considered available.)

MAP: Use the Avengers Mansion map from the Indoor Adventures kit. If the players are feeling ambitious, they may join this map with the Mansion exterior map from the Outdoor Adventures kit.

SET-UP: Roll for first player and choose sides normally.

BFC: The Avengers defense mechanism is damaged and out of control. The Proximity Mines card is in effect.

SCENARIO LENGTH: 10 rounds.

THE STORY CONTINUES: While Jarvis is sweeping up and passing out aspirin after this latest battle, an alert comes in that Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil have attempted yet again to take revenge against Captain America. While Cap was giving a speech dedicating a statue to a fallen fire-fighter in a small New York suburb, the villains attack!! But, as Doom and Magneto recently learned, if you attack one Avenger, you attack them all!!! A rescue team rushes to help Captain America.

TEAMS: 600 points this time. The Hero must use Captain America, then pick any other characters he used in the previous scenarios to make up the rest of his team.

The Villain uses Baron Zemo and any other characters with the Masters of Evil keyword.

MAP: Use the Smallville map from the Legion of Superheroes starter kit.

BFC: The fighting is pretty intense. The Armor Wars BFC card is in effect.

SCENARIO LENGTH: 12 rounds this time.

FINAL VICTORY: Total all victory points from the four scenarios. If the Hero is ahead, then the Avengers have protected their own and kept the world safe. If the Villain is ahead, then chaos, death and destruction spreads across the globe.
